Animal Planet hosts their annual Puppy Bowl in conjunction with the Super Bowl every year. This year’s Puppy Bowl VII is bound to be the cutest yet. I hear they have chihuahua cheerleaders!
They will air this year’s Puppy Bowl multiple times starting at 3:00 PM EST on Sunday, February 6th so that everyone has a chance to watch it, click here for the schedule.
Today I’m 29 years old and you know what??? I couldn’t care less!
On our refrigerator at work, they post a list of when everyone’s birthday is throughout the year. Someone came up to me and started to say, “You have a birthday coming up!” But before I could let her get past “You have” I blurted out, “I know! I’m having a boy! I’m so excited!”
She burst out laughing. I told her I didn’t care about my birthday! I’m having a baby boy, waaaaay better than turning 29!!!!
However, just because I don’t care about my birthday doesn’t mean I can’t celebrate it over 4 days…
…I got a broken refrigerator and a busted connection from our heating unit to our condo. Fa la la la la – la la la la! Awesome! We knew the house was chilly; warm air (or any air at all for that matter) stopped filling our house on Dec 23. We called the fix-it guy and he came out, pounded on the roof for five minutes and said that the problem was solved. Well, he was WRONG!
Ryan & I shared this Christmas Eve with his parents, his grandmother, his sister and her boyfriend. We met up at Rustico for dinner and had a wonderful meal, but as we do every year, we all passed on dessert. And believe me, it wasn’t because the creme brule wasn’t to die for. Their holiday tradition is to open up Christmas presents on Christmas Eve after dinner. So as you can imagine, we were all pretty anxious to get home, get the family photos over with and changed into pajamas so the unwrapping could begin. Here are some pictures from that night, enjoy!
I just can’t get enough of fruit these days. Whether it is in the form of a piece of fruit, juice or popscicles, I find my taste buds craving it early in the morning (before I even get out of bed), in the middle of the day, after work and at night. One day after work I had to pick up some apples so I could eat them on my walk with Cali and quench my craving for fruit. It was the oddest thing!
Last week, when I got out of bed to take Cali to the bathroom before I got ready for work, I had to take 3-5 chugs of juice from the bottle. I love how the sweet juices swirl in my mouth, it is the best taste in the world! Well, right now anyway.
Momma has left the building! We got up at the crack of dawn this morning so I could get ready for work, drop her off at the Burbank airport and head into the office. I was sad to see her go, but she is off to see my older brother in Redwood City for a few days, which I know she is looking forward to doing. We had a wonderful few days together–it is a time I will think back on and remember how much my mother loves me to endure a long day of airport and airplanes, just to spend a long weekend with me. The countdown is on. My mom will be in LA in 4 hours! Woohoo! I have a fun few days planned for just me and her. Once I pick her up from the Burbank airport this afternoon, we are making a few shopping stops and then heading home so she can see her grand-dog. Cali has been counting down the days on her basenji calendar to when she can see her Grandma from NH. Last time Grandma visited, she had Cali-cookies in her carry-on luggage in a zip-lock bag–one anxious basenji is hoping and praying that is the case this time.
There are certain foods made certain ways that I will ALWAYS love because that is what my Mom used to make for me when I wasn’t feeling well or was having a bad day. When I was younger, any kind of food would be considered “comfort” food for me. Let’s face it, I liked to eat.
There is an unspoken rule–or more accurately, an imaginary deadline for when you can still mail holiday cards to your family and friends and not look like a total bone head for having them arrive after December 25th. In my mind, that day is more like a window: no earlier than 2 days before Turkey Day and no later than 5 days after (or Dec 1st).
Whether it contains a “Christmas Letter” bragging about how wonderful your life is, a goofy picture of your dog, or you and your hubby in front of Big Ben in London–a holiday card is the best way to stay in touch. Maybe you do not want to write a heart-felt letter during the year and perhaps you are not interested in sending a birthday card because in the end, what would you really say…? “Hey! Happy Birthday! Hope your life is great…I am just guessing you’re still alive because you NEVER send me a birthday card…” Yeah, that probably would not go over so well.
Unless I show up and my high school class reunion is JUST like Romy & Michelle’s, then no way in hell will I ever go.
