22 Days Until Christmas…

My first memory of music on the radio is about 16 years ago…I can still see the mini-van I was riding in, my mom is driving and we are heading to school with Country songs filling the air. We listened to nothing but Country music in the car when we were younger because my parents were always driving and they controlled the radio. I started to get into other kinds of music when I got to high school, but K-8 was strictly Country. Today, I have the only two Country stations that I can get on my radio saved as presets so that it can follow me as I drive around Los Angeles.

The older songs I know the words to and can very easily pick it up right in the middle and I totally surprise myself. There are a few new songs that I just love hearing on the radio and every time I catch one, even if Ryan’s in the car, I beg him to stop on the Country station so I can sing at the top of my lungs. He only allots me one Country song per car ride, he really can not stand it. Although I have seen him grooving to Tim McGraw, I mean, come on, who doesn’t like Tim?!?!

This is a fairly new song that I started hearing (“Johnny and June” by Heidi Newfield) that I made sure I found it on itunes—it is very catchy…

I wanna hold you baby right or wrong,
Build a world around a country song,
Pray a sweet prayer,
Follow you there,
Down in history…
I wanna love like Johnny and June,
Rings of fire burnin’ with you,
I wanna walk the line,
Walk the line,
‘Till the end of time,
I wanna love,
Love ya that much,
Cash it all in,
Give it all up,
When you’re gone,
I wanna go too,
Like Johnny and June

This one (“Chicken Fried” by Zac Brown Band) just makes me smile to sing along…

I thank God for my life
And for the stars and stripes
May freedom forever fly, let it ring.
Salute the ones who died
The ones that give their lives so we don`t have to sacrifice
All the things we love
Like our chicken fried
Cold beer on a Friday night
A pair of jeans that fit just right
And the radio up
Well I`ve seen the sunrise
See the love in my woman`s eyes
Feel the touch of a precious child
And know a mother`s love
