It’s my party…

…and I’ll do whatever the flip I want!

Today I turn 27 years old. Wow, I feel so old! Growing up, my Mom always threw me birthday parties and invited all of my relatives. Cook-out birthday parties were the best.

One year my Dad made lobster and chicken wings, it was delicious! I’m a fan of the lobster, drowned in drawn butter. My Dad used to have to crack my entire lobster and he knew just how I liked it…he would pile all the juicy white meat into a bowl of butter so I could slowly eat the buttery meal, mmmmm—butter…

To go with the incredible meals my Dad would make, my Mom would bake a cake and it was almost always a fun-fetti cake with pink frosting that was colored with jam, either strawberry or raspberry. And it was always a double-layer cake (of course). There were the occasional Barbie shaped cakes in my younger years, but no matter the shape, they were always delicious.

This year, to start my birthday weekend off with a bang, on Friday I had lunch with a friend at work at Pomodoro, which is a great, yet inexpensive Italian restaurant. They have a superb steak salad and spaghetti with meatballs. Friday night I met up with another friend for drinks.

Today, my hubby is taking me to The Melting Pot where we will cook our own cheese appetizer, meat main-course and chocolate dessert. It is our favorite place to dine when we are celebrating one of our birthdays or our anniversary. It is a slow meal and forces us to enjoy the food, conversation and the quiet atmosphere where it is just the two of us.

Tomorrow, my sister-in-law is making me and the family my choice of Mexican food. I just love burritos, enchiladas, re-fried beans, spanish rice, guacamole and tons of sour cream. And she knows how to make it all so0000 good!

I anticipate gaining a few pounds when all is said and done, but why not?
