Finally Pregnant!
In mid-October, I peed on two EPT tests and revealed two positive results–PREGNANT!
It was the most exciting news Ryan and I ever shared together, but he could not contain himself and began calling and texting his parents and friends to share the good news. I was more hesitant to start the celebration until I got a positive result from my OBGYN. It is such a big moment in a woman’s life to miss your period and actually want to be pregnant, especially for someone like me who has wanted a baby for years. But as soon as I got the “Yup, you’re pregnant” news from my doctor I anxiously called my mother and mother-in-law, cousin, grandmother, and future sister-in-law to scream over the phone “I’m gonna have a baby!!!”
There are always concerns about how long should you wait to tell your employer, your family in New Hampshire, and your friends in California. It was hard to contain my excitement so I did spill the beans a little earlier than I probably should have at 6 weeks.
Fortunately for me, my boss and his wife had been trying to have a baby for years and about 1 1/2 years ago he told us the good news, she was finally pregnant. He’s still very young so we are sort of close in age and in similar stages of our lives. When I told him I was 6 weeks pregnant he was super stoked for me and Ryan. He wanted to tell the world. It was odd to see that kind of reaction come from a guy, but comforting none the less. He proceeded to tell me that I need to call in sick whenever I don’t feel well and to not feel bad about leaving the office early or coming in late to accommodate doctor’s appointments. He is very understanding about the whole situation.
I was not sure how to tell all of my family members back in NH. I could sit and count how many aunts, uncles and cousins I have, but who has the time for that kind of extensive research? There are just too many to count! I was sure about one thing, I did not want to post it on facebook for the world to see–I also did not want to hurt any family members feelings by having them find out on a social networking site.
So I let the information trickle by word of mouth for a few weeks. When it was time to send out Christmas cards, I printed up a fun little announcement on the back of the cards so that those who did not already hear the good news could get a little surprise in the mail.
Now I am about 18 weeks pregnant and today, my mother-in-law met me and Ryan at our Prenatal Specialist for an ultra-sound. We went in to the appointment with high hopes that our baby would be in a good position to show us her hoo-ha or his wee-wee.
And guess what??? IT’S A BOY!!!!
