Baby Blanket

Jun 4th, 2011 Posted in Aidan, Cali | one comment »

About 17 or 18 years ago, my Grammy Tasker got me interested in crocheting. She was always knitting and making afghans and sweaters for all her grand children and great grand children. Whenever I would come over to her house in the summer or after school to watch Price Is Right or Bonanza, she always had another project going. Her fingers would moved like lightning with those knitting needles!

The first blanket I started was with a super soft purple yarn and from that tiny square that she started for me, I ended up making a really large girly blanket, which I always thought would be for my baby girl. It was purple, pink, yellow and blue. I actually slept underneath it when I was home in March for my NH baby shower and was surprised how comfortable it was–not only was it the perfect weight, but it covered my entire body! I was never too adventurous when crocheting and always went around and around the center square so as a result, the blanket is a perfect square.

Last Day of Work

Jun 1st, 2011 Posted in Aidan, Cali | no comment »

This coming Friday will be my last day at work. It has been so slow in our office these days that I have been going through my drawers and carefully combing my desk about a million times to make sure I don’t leave anything behind that I might need over the next 12 weeks.

The company I work for is pretty awesome when it comes to maternity leave. I get 2 weeks off before my due date, full pay, and an additional 10 weeks off after I deliver the baby–at full pay.  A lot of businesses only offer 6-8 weeks and sometimes at partial pay! I have heard of some mothers-to-be who work up until their water breaks. My office is about 25 miles from home, which is 1.5 miles from my hospital, so I couldn’t imagine working until the very last minute–no way! Not if I don’t have to!

Klutz

May 10th, 2011 Posted in Aidan | no comment »

This week has been rough for me.

One morning at work, I was preparing my usual morning yogurt parfait where I scoop yogurt from a large tub into a cup. Then I take the cup back to my desk and mix in granola with flax. Yum! But back to the story…

On the fourth scoop, I somehow managed to miss the cup completely and plop yogurt on my hand and the kitchen counter. I said out loud, “Did that seriously just happen?” At that very moment, my work friend, Jennifer, was walking by and started busting up laughing. She saw the entire thing. And then I lost it and was laughing so hard that I started to cry (better than peeing!) and she exclaimed, “I did not see that!”

Child Birth Classes

May 6th, 2011 Posted in Aidan | no comment »

Last night was the first of a 3-class series of child birth classes. I am not making Ryan read any of the baby books during my pregnancy, but he does have to listen to me when I tell him baby-related and pregnancy-related things. However, Ryan is like most men and what I tell him goes in one ear and out the other.

I stated early on in my pregnancy that I wanted Ryan to attend these child birthing classes with me and he agreed, but mind you that was months and months ago. Now that May has arrived, I have pre-registered for 5 classes; 4 of which he has to attend with me.

Nursery – Before & After

May 1st, 2011 Posted in Aidan | no comment »

Finally! The little boy’s nursery is complete! I am sure we will hang a few more things on the walls in the weeks to come, but here’s a look at the before and after photos so you can get an idea what the room looks like now.

Belly Kicks

Apr 28th, 2011 Posted in Aidan | no comment »

They are more like jabs, really. Out of the blue, I will feel a hard pressure on my belly and when I touch the spot, it is so firm, I think it might be a foot! If I press hard enough, he’ll let up and move around, but sometimes it is like he is stretching, pressing all limbs out in all directions and there’s nothing I can do to get him to curl back up into a ball. I’m sure he is getting cramped in there!

Baby’s Room

I hope you all enjoyed the last belly photo. I am not sure I will fit in the picture frame for much longer. Every morning when I wake up my tummy looks bigger! I continuously bounce off of EVERYTHING and I am at the point where I feel like a fatty-mc-fatty-kins. Although all the girls at work are complimenting me on how cute I look and how from behind, you can not even tell I am pregnant. Well, we’ll see what they say in another month–I still have 2 more to go! I am pleased that the stretchy belly band on my maternity pants now snugly hugs my belly and I do not have to tuck the top of the band into my bra–which I had to do for the past few months. Either that band is shrinking or I’m getting bigger…hmmm…

This weekend we got the baby’s room totally over-hauled. We had a handy man come in and touch up the walls, remove any unsightly spots and nails, fill any creepy cracks around the closet doors and replace all the outlets. We had the walls painted a haze blue (according to the Pratt & Lambert paint sample). The base boards, closet doors & bedroom door were painted in a semi-gloss white, which made everything look so satiny! The ceiling was also repainted to give the entire room a new, fresh look. The handy man also assembled the crib and hung up a new curtain rod.

When he left the house last night, the first thing I did was attempt to remove the large WARNING! sticker from the face of the crib. Now, tell me…who in their RIGHT mind puts a super sticky WARNING! sticker on the front of such a beautiful piece of furniture!?
