Nursery – Before & After

May 1st, 2011 Posted in Aidan | no comment »

Finally! The little boy’s nursery is complete! I am sure we will hang a few more things on the walls in the weeks to come, but here’s a look at the before and after photos so you can get an idea what the room looks like now.

Belly Kicks

Apr 28th, 2011 Posted in Aidan | no comment »

They are more like jabs, really. Out of the blue, I will feel a hard pressure on my belly and when I touch the spot, it is so firm, I think it might be a foot! If I press hard enough, he’ll let up and move around, but sometimes it is like he is stretching, pressing all limbs out in all directions and there’s nothing I can do to get him to curl back up into a ball. I’m sure he is getting cramped in there!

Happy Easter Bunny!

We went to the Country Club with the rest of the family for our Easter dinner and it was a fabulous buffet. Not only were they serving soups, salads and the usual assortments of breads, fruits and cold shellfish, but they also had a pasta bar where the chef would make your own pasta dish with whatever you wanted in it. They had carving stations of prime rib, turkey and ham, as well as some chaffing dishes with wild mushroom ravioli, steamed vegetables, macaroni & cheese, chicken tenders & french fries and of course, dessert. I had a little bit of everything and ended the evening with waffles topped with bananas foster, whipped cream, hot fudge, berries, sugar cookies and a peep. It was a pregnant girl’s dream!

Baby’s Room

Apr 19th, 2011 Posted in Aidan | no comment »

I hope you all enjoyed the last belly photo. I am not sure I will fit in the picture frame for much longer. Every morning when I wake up my tummy looks bigger! I continuously bounce off of EVERYTHING and I am at the point where I feel like a fatty-mc-fatty-kins. Although all the girls at work are complimenting me on how cute I look and how from behind, you can not even tell I am pregnant. Well, we’ll see what they say in another month–I still have 2 more to go! I am pleased that the stretchy belly band on my maternity pants now snugly hugs my belly and I do not have to tuck the top of the band into my bra–which I had to do for the past few months. Either that band is shrinking or I’m getting bigger…hmmm…

This weekend we got the baby’s room totally over-hauled. We had a handy man come in and touch up the walls, remove any unsightly spots and nails, fill any creepy cracks around the closet doors and replace all the outlets. We had the walls painted a haze blue (according to the Pratt & Lambert paint sample). The base boards, closet doors & bedroom door were painted in a semi-gloss white, which made everything look so satiny! The ceiling was also repainted to give the entire room a new, fresh look. The handy man also assembled the crib and hung up a new curtain rod.

When he left the house last night, the first thing I did was attempt to remove the large WARNING! sticker from the face of the crib. Now, tell me…who in their RIGHT mind puts a super sticky WARNING! sticker on the front of such a beautiful piece of furniture!?

Baby’s Room

Apr 13th, 2011 Posted in Aidan | no comment »

Last night we were able to sell the entire guest bed to someone on craigslist. They even came last night to pick it up, so that was a huge bonus. The people were so odd, but I was glad to see them drive the bed away leaving cash in my hand.

The guest room now has a small bedside table in it, the comforter from the guest bed, some pillows and a small chair. That’s it! We will hopefully get the room painted this weekend and get the crib assembled as well. I am anxious to see if the crib is in decent shape–you never know when you order a large piece of furniture like that online and it is shipped in a box in a million tiny pieces.

Moving Slower

Apr 7th, 2011 Posted in Aidan | no comment »

There is a 1.5 mile loop that I used to run in my younger, fitter days. The run would take me about 15 minutes. When I started speed walking instead of running, the same 1.5 mile distance took me about 25 minutes–30 minutes (tops) if Cali was overly inclined to stop and sniff more than usual.

Now that I am 29 weeks pregnant and it looks like I stuffed a soccer ball in my shirt, that 1.5 miles now takes me about 45 minutes. Yikes!

I couldn’t believe it the first time I got home from the walk, it didn’t feel like a longer walk than usual, but it certainly took me a lot longer to complete. This distance is a good way for me to get my necessary 30 minutes of exercise per day (is it MY fault that I am slow??) and it also gives Cali a chance to stretch her legs on a semi-long walk and do all her business in the early evenings. She is now used to going out for these walks when I get home from work and as soon as I start to change my clothes and put on my socks and shoes, she goes bananas.

Best Months of Pregnancy

Apr 4th, 2011 Posted in Aidan | no comment »

Months 5 and 6 were by far my best months of pregnancy.

  • I no longer felt nausea and was game to eat anything and everything that was put in front of me.
  • I was in a really good weight range so I was allowed to splurge!
  • I could walk for 2-3 miles a day without feeling any aches & pains in my legs or back.
  • I was starting to really show my baby bump and looked super cute in all of the clingy, belly-hugging shirts that I rocked pre-baby-bump.
  • I could still see my toes and had no problems shaving my legs or tying my shoes.
  • I got the best sleep and was comfortable in any position in bed.
  • I could go out on long day trips without getting winded or feeling my heart race.
  • Getting in and out of the car was a piece-of-cake…did someone say cake?
  • I showed no signs of swelling in my hands or feet or ankles, all my jewelry and shoes still fit just fine!
  • I was happy all the time and although I looked forward to meeting my baby, I wasn’t anxious to rush to month #9.

Now that I am nearing my 7th month, most of those things have gone out the window!
