For my birthday, my mother-in-law gave me a flip video camera. A couple of my friends were raving about theirs so I was more than a little excited to receive one for my birthday this weekend. The one she gave me has a picture of Cali’s beautiful face on the front of it…I will admit, I squealed with joy. Here is my very first movie I made of my Cali monster–I am sure it is the first of many. Enjoy!
Today I turn 27 years old. Wow, I feel so old! Growing up, my Mom always threw me birthday parties and invited all of my relatives. Cook-out birthday parties were the best.
Cali and I do not have a good history at the dog park. There are two main incidents that come to mind when I think about this place where dogs are supposed to enjoy themselves, run free and burn off steam…
You never really know what kind of dog you will get when you adopt or rescue one that was abandoned by someone else.
Someone that thought they were ready for a dog, then found out how hard it is to own one, train it and love it when it does something horrible to your most prized possessions.
I can not help but judge those people that give up a dog, especially one as young as Cali. The people who had Cali before us (they named her ‘Whittier’ btw, how ridiculous!) gave her up before giving her a fair chance to try and be good.
I heard horror stories from my parents in December about the lack of power throughout parts of New England. A major ice storm rolled in and with the timber of trees came the absence of light, heat, running water—you name it, it was gone.
Here is a cute poem one of my Aunts forwarded my way and I just had to share…
I never had a dog that I could put clothes on, but when I see other people dressing their dogs, I think it is the cutest thing! My mother-in-law has a small dog named Lola that has a wide variety of T-shirts and whenever I am at her house, 9 times out of 10, Lola is wearing one of those shirts.
Four day weekends are pretty sweet. My office gives us the day off for the day after Christmas and New Years (in addition to getting those holidays off), so as a result I get two four-day-weekends in a row. But that Monday after those two long weekends is pretty rough. And the full week after those short weeks is even harder to get through. If my Dad is reading this, I know he would be laughing at me right now, saying I should buck up and how he works 80 hour weeks in the summertime and yada yada yada. I know Dad, I know.
I have started totally loving buying music on iTunes and adding new songs to my current library. I recently got a gift card to iTunes and it was all too easy to load up the money on my computer and purchase music in a just a few clicks. Then it is like an extra bonus to be listening to my iPod while traveling or at work and then these brand new songs shuffle into the mix.
