Cry Much?

Jun 24th, 2009 Posted in Miscellaneous | no comment »

I feel like The Bachelorette cries at least twice every week. I wish she would buck up and quit it already. Toughen up! I’m not too happy with Jillian for this reason and for the fact that she let go one of my top runners, pilot/perfect-Jake. He was seriously the perfect guy and Jillian chose the following dork-chops to meet their families next week:

  • Reid – who she has nothing in common with but thinks there’s a “mysterious” connection since day one
  • Kiptyn – who has a freaky name, big nose (just like Jillian) and is a good cuddler
  • Jesse – super hot hottie wine maker from Carmel, need I say more?
  • Michael – barely-out-of-diapers break-dance instructor, too young to sit still, never mind know what he wants
  • Wes – only-here-for-his album lying, cheating, no good singin fool, who has Jillian wrapped around his little finger, his words, not mine!

Anti-Climactic Bachelorette

Jun 16th, 2009 Posted in Miscellaneous | no comment »

I felt like last night’s episode of The Bachelorette was anti-climactic. They were all in Whistler where Jillian likes to go to do snow-centered activities and you would think that there would be more than just cozy-by-the-fire fireworks. But there were not.

I do not even care that Ed had to go home because if he didn’t, he would have lost his job. I agree with Jake–in this economy, you can not afford to choose to be unemployed. I’m glad he’s gone because I think it gives Jillian a tougher choice on who to pick. She can no longer float by, she actually has to get serious and cut who she can not be 100% serious about spending her life with.

Bachelors with Girlfriends?

Jun 9th, 2009 Posted in Miscellaneous | no comment »

In last week’s previews for this week’s episode of The Bachelorette, ABC made you think that some of the Bachelors had girlfriends at home and/or were on the show for the wrong reasons. Drama!

As it turns out, a couple of the guys (foot-fetish-Tanner and Reid) were the ones who told Jillian at the cocktail party that she had to worry about some of the guys. But they did not say who had girlfriends (cough-cough-Wes!) or who were here for the wrong reasons, perhaps to further their singing career (cough-cough-Wes!).

Chris Harrison helped Jillian confront the guys after she called off the cocktail party so she could get right down to kicking some of them off the show. But no one came forward despite her begging them to do so with her sad, weepy eyes. Some of the guys got really pissed at hearing this news–was it a cover or does that prove it was not them with the bad intentions?

The Bachelorette

Jun 3rd, 2009 Posted in Miscellaneous | one comment »

Now that all of my regular TV shows have aired their season finales, I am finally able to watch The Bachelorette on Monday nights live!  I am so excited about this. I actually enjoy the suspense between commercial breaks and anticipate the return of the show.

On Monday night’s episode, the foot fetish guy, Tanner P. had me squealing with uncomfortable laughter. He wants to not only see Jillian’s feet, but he also wants to touch them, kiss them, suck on them…ick!  She has no idea what a freak this guy is!  I know he won’t make it to the end because she will get the gist of how crazy in love he is with feet and say ‘goodbye foot fetish guy!’

Facebook

May 30th, 2009 Posted in Miscellaneous | no comment »

I succumbed to peer pressure and signed on to Facebook yesterday. My mom sent me an email from her Facebook account (yeah, I know, my mom had it before I did) and I could not view the pictures unless I signed up. So I did.

I was able to link my Twitter account to my Facebook account so that anything I tweet from my phone goes right to Facebook–totally love that. I have been able to find all of my cousins, aunts and even some uncles using this networking tool, as well as people I knew in high school and college. It is actually kind of cool to see who is married, who has kids and who looks exactly the same.

Bad Car Karma, Yet Again

May 22nd, 2009 Posted in Miscellaneous | one comment »

I have said before that I have bad car karma and last night furthered my belief in this. I was on my way home from a long day at work and traffic was bumper-to-bumper. I had a cop behind me so I was focusing on the road, no radio, no mirror glances to admire my classic smile–I was determined to not be pulled over.

Cops are notorious for pulling over anyone and everyone before a holiday weekend for doing something so minimal and insignificant, thus my cautious driving. It was 5:35 and I was about 10 miles from home when I heard a loud thud thud thud coming from my left rear tire. I though I had gotten a rock stuck and it was getting kicked up inside of the car causing the noise, but when it did not go away, I turned my hazards on and pulled over on the 101, one of the busiest freeways in the San Fernando Valley. I crawled into the passenger seat, got out and carefully stuck my head into traffic to see my tire, which was now flat. Argh!

Upcoming Summer Movies

May 20th, 2009 Posted in Miscellaneous | 2 comments »

After seeing Star Trek, Wolverine, Angels&Demons and Terminator Salvation I think the latter will be my all time favorite movie of the summer. I know it is still early in the summer months, but I got really excited about it after seeing it a few weeks ago. I totally loved Christian Bale and Sam Worthington wasn’t bad to look at either.  The film’s story line was very easy to follow and despite being the fourth installment of this series, it did just fine standing on it’s own two feet. It did have a couple of shout-outs to the other Terminator films with some classic lines and props that made me laugh or say to myself, “I remember that!”

Say Farewell to Northwood

May 15th, 2009 Posted in Miscellaneous | no comment »

Today, my older brother Curtis says ‘farewell’ to Northwood, New Hampshire as he pulls out of the driveway and heads west towards San Jose, California. He has his whole trip mapped out with his give-a give-a give-a Garmin GPS and Google Earth.

He is making a stop in Rochester, New York to see some college buddies and spend a night or two and then he’s crossing about a dozen states until he reaches Las Vegas, Nevada for a quick rest and maybe strike it rich. His longest rest will be spent at my place in Thousand Oaks, California where he will get some much-needed Cali time as well as his laundry cleaned. Then up north he will travel to San Jose where he will stay with our cousin Kristyl and her husband Jim until he and his friends can purchase a house.

I do not think I could handle that kind of road trip on my own, but Curtis is such a devoted person. When he wants something, he does not stop until he reaches his goal. I wish him luck on this journey and hope he calls me if he gets drowsy at the wheel. I can not wait to see him in a week. New Hampshire is sad to see him leave, but California is so lucky to have him!

Laker Hater

I am not a huge fan of the NBA. My favorite professional sports to watch on TV are MLB and NFL. My favorite teams to watch are the Red Sox and the Patriots. But watching any of the NBA teams (even the Celtics) is just so boring to me. I do not mind tuning in to the last 30 seconds of a playoff game, that can be interesting, but regular season games are so blah.

Grandpa

May 6th, 2009 Posted in Miscellaneous | one comment »

I had a free minute at work yesterday afternoon so I grabbed a post-it and a pen and began to make a list:

  • weather
  • car
  • what we did this weekend
  • Sophie/Cali

Then I dialed my Grandpa’s home phone number to have a brief chat. I like to check in on him, make sure he is doing ok and give him the scoop on what has been going on in my life.

Shhhhh!

May 5th, 2009 Posted in Miscellaneous | no comment »

You are shushing me and I do not know why. If it is pick-on-the-person-who-sits-next-to-you-at-work day, then let me jump right in (if you do not mind) and I will tell you to smile! Stop acting so grumpy all the time. You are not allowed to walk around in a funk until lunch time and then be all chipper as if you were not nasty earlier in the day. Don’t be bitter, reconsider!

Why do I get chastised for not doting over a colleague who is having personal issues? That is why they are personal! This is a place of business! I do not want you to know about my personal life so why do you insist on telling me about yours? If not just to get some sympathy. Are you that starved for attention at home that you weigh all your problems on the people you work with?

I am all about common courtesy, especially in the work place. But these two things are my biggest pet peeves and I hate that I continue to get crucified for being me–a sometimes loud, but fairly personal individual.

Red Thumb

Apr 26th, 2009 Posted in Miscellaneous | no comment »

I do not have a green thumb. I tend to kill every plant that I care for. I either water it too much and everything droops, or I do not water it enough and the leaves dry up and fall off. My mother has amazing gardens at our home in New Hampshire and she is constantly telling me about a new bed she is making for wild flowers in the back yard or bulbs that she picked up that day. I bet if I had a yard where I could plant, care for and grow my own plants and flowers that I could really get then hang of it. But in California, it is hard to own land unless you are a ga-zillionaire.

The first plant/house-warming gift I got lasted about a month before it finally kicked the bucket. Then, the sellers had left a huge potted plant on the downstairs balcony so I watered it and cared for it and even removed some of the over-grown parts of the plant to other pots to enlarge the arrangement. But my interest in it lasted only a few months until I stopped watering it. But it is primarily cacti so I am certain it is coping just fine without my watering can.

Currently, I have three plants in my possession that live indoors with me and are all holding on for dear life.
