It is finally Friday and yes, I am already dreading Monday. My boss was out yesterday and today and is out Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week. That means I’ll be doing both our work for the next three work days and I’m not looking forward to it! I like the steady routine we have, day-in and day-out. Nothing changes, everything is the same, nothing new or scary–that’s the way I like it.
But, having to cover for his stuff and mine gives me the opportunity to shine a little brighter to my boss’ boss, which is always a good thing. But when I wake up extra early on Monday to get in and hopefully start the week off right, the voice inside my head will be saying, “It’s just one bad day, you can get through it.” Because after Monday, it’s all downhill from there!
The Magic Castle is the world’s most famous club for magicians and magic enthusiasts and home to The Academy of Magical Arts, Inc.
The Magic Castle is the showplace for some of the greatest magicians from around the globe. We also take great pride in showcasing the magnificent building that houses the Magic Castle. Built in 1908, this storied mansion has watched Hollywood grow and change for almost 100 years while never losing its original charm (from their website).
The Magic Castle is my new favorite place. It is so unique and intriguing that all I want to do is go there again and again. It has a hotel as well as a restaurant inside to accompany the many cavernous hallways and rooms where magic and cabaret are performed.
I have Friday 9/4 & Monday 9/7 off from work, I can not wait to do some serious sleeping, hair-cutting, movie-watching, USC home-game-going on all four days that I do not need to be at the office.
Friday at 11:00am I’m going to see Tiffany, who is not only my hairdresser, but also a really great friend. She’ll hack off the mullet I’ve been trying to hide and fix my bangs that have gotten so long they have to weave to stay out of my eyes.
This Saturday is USC’s first home game. We all have season tickets so we will be heading downtown at 9:45am for a 12:30pm game, then probably make our way back home at 5:00pm. Long day for Cali, but we have the best dog-walker in the world and she is going to come see Cali that day to give her a potty break.
Sunday is a free day, nothing planned so far, but I am hoping on going to see a movie. Nothing that fabulous opens this holiday weekend, but honestly, does it matter? As long as I’m sitting in the dark next to my hubby with some Junior Mints, I couldn’t care less what was on the big screen.
Sunday afternoon, my mother-in-law comes home from spending nine days in Rome with her sister. Monday we are all gathering at the big house so the dogs can swim and we can have an early dinner and hear all about her trip.
Tomorrow is a half day for me. My work gave the entire company four half days to use whenever they like this summer. I got them approved so early that this month alone, I have a half day for three Friday’s in a row. Everyone looks at me with steaming ears and eyes of jealousy as I walk out the door at noon. I love it! I can’t wait to come in tomorrow and work away the four hours until I can beat feet and start my weekend early.
Last Friday I did a lot–got my tires rotated & alligned, picked up groceries, washed my car, did my nails, then showered and got ready for the GAP free-jeans party Tara was hosting. But tomorrow is going to be so totally different. I am not going for a run, not servicing my car and not doing a damn thing other than lying in bed, watching bad made-for-TV movies. Now THAT is the perfect way to spend a half day.
Memphis Roadhouse was Ryan’s favorite restaurant in Massachusettes that we frequented while at Wheaton College. Unfortunately, Christina became the kiss of death and with the blink of an eye, she could close a restaurant for good. Not only was Memphis Roadhouse a victim, but Trani’s was also closed; it was a bakery in the North End of Boston that sold cup cakes and eclaires with ice cream injected into them. This video is of Ryan’s reaction as he realizes Memphis Roadhouse is actually closed.
Just got back from a mini-vaca in Boston, MA. Luke & Christina picked us up at the Providence airport on Wednesday afternoon, then we made our way to through the first steps of Nostalgia Tour 2009. First stop, Providence Place mall for some window shopping and lunch at Dave & Busters. The next stop was the Old Town Hall Bookstore at Wheaton College in Norton, MA. I was bummed I could not find any more puppy products with the WHEATON emblem, not even the paw-print dog bowls we got two years ago. Ryan scored big (as usual) and walked out of the store about $100 poorer, but got some great shirts.
Saw No Doubt on Tuesday night with Ryan and Carolyn at Universal’s Gibson Amphitheatre. It was so much fun! We had seats, which was great, and they played all the oldies that everyone knew the words to and got everyone dancing and jumping and singing.
Gwen Stefani had three wardrobe changes. First she came out in low-rise white cargo pants w/ a peri-winkle bra and a white tank top–which was only about 5 inches long because her assistant cuts it for her every night. Second, she changed into a black & white checkered body suit that had short shorts. Lastly, she came out in a black sequined polo shirt and pants. Her hair was her trade mark platinum with three buns tied up tight on her head. She also had her thick eye lashes on as well as bright red lipstick.
If any of you follow me on facebook/twitter, you will know that I spent the past weekend in San Diego with Ryan at a friend’s wedding. The wedding was at a dog friendly hotel called the Loews Coronado so we also brought Cali. She was so well behaved!
Last night, Jillian finally saw Wes’ true reasons for being on the show (to promote his music career) as well as confirmed he had a girlfriend (who’s name is Laurel—wanna bet she makes it to the After-The-Final-Rose-Ceremony?).
All the other dates with Reid, Ed and Kip (just can’t add the -tyn to his name, too lame). I could not stand Ed though. I pretty much fast forwarded through the entire Ed-sequence because that’s how made it made me. She definitely has a better connection with the other two.
Jillian chose to not whore herself out on TV and to forego the fantasy suite with everyone except Ed. I understand her reasoning, she wants more time to get to know Ed since he missed out on a couple of key dates that she got to share with the other guys. And she is also trying to be honest with herself about who she really wants to choose in the end. She is giving each guy a fair chance–she even gave Wes a fair chance and kept him on longer than she should have.
Jillian, The Bachelorette: What is this chick all about, anyway? I can not read her at all and frankly, I’m pissed about her decisions thus far. Not only did she boot Jake last week, but she let Jesse go this week—probably because Ed came back into the picture. Yup, that’s right, you heard me, ED CAME BACK! I couldn’t believe it and from the looks of it, neither could Jillian.
To her defense, she seems to have some kind of unspeakable connection with this guy because she was really broken up about it when he left. And ultimately, let him come to the rose ceremony last night so that she could give him a rose and keep whatever “thing” they have going.
Jake came back to tell Jillian that Wes currently has a girlfriend (who’s name is Laurel) and that she should not be fooled by his lies because he is “quick on his feet.” But when the tears were cried and all of Wes’ lies were delivered to Jillian with that sly country smile, she predictably bought it and went to meet his family. I was surprised that she brought it up to Wes’ sister’s and mother. It looks like she brings it up again to Wes next week when they get their overnight dates in Spain. ABC wants you to think that Wes stumbles over his words and lets the girlfriend thing slip, but knowing this show, it is all a ploy to get you to tune in next week. And knowing me, I will.
Today is my sister-in-law’s birthday and tonight we are going to Beso, check it out here. Trendy, right? I’m stoked to go. It is a tradition we have for everyone’s birthday, we either go out that night for a nice meal or we make a meal at home and all enjoy it together. When we go out to eat, it is an excuse to dress up and enjoy a night out, usually in Hollywood or Downtown Los Angeles, which we do not frequent that often.
Tomorrow night I am meeting up with Brady and some of her friends for drinks at The Arsenal, check it out here. I do not go out that often, I like to curl up on the couch with my hubby and puppy and watch TV until we fall asleep. Exciting, I know, but that’s what I usually do and generally what I like to do. But every now and then I’ll go out with friends and end up having a really great time, which is why I am looking forward to Friday night.
So in true Nicki-fashion, I will be helping Brady celebrate her birthday over two days time. Every girl deserves a birthday weekend—no birthday week—let’s just make it a month!
